Our 75 hour OBRA approved course is geared with the traditional and
non-traditional student in mind. The Nursing Assistant curriculum is
designed to prepare students for careers in health care under the
supervision of the licensed nurse. Students will learn the basic
entry-level nursing skills to work in health care. The Nursing
Assistant Theory and Clinical curriculum provides the student with the
necessary information and skills in long-term care to take the Iowa
State Competency Skills and Written exam, which is required for the
Nursing Assistant State Registry.

The
course includes 12 weeks of lecture and lab experience.
Medical Coding Specialist is a certificate program designed to prepare
students to assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using recognized
coding systems. The student will also be knowledgeable of medical
insurance, reimbursement systems, and their correlation to coding. The
course includes 12 weeks of lecture and lab experience. Upon completion
of the course, students may apply to sit for the certifying examinations
through AHIMA.

This course is a
6 week program and will prepare participants to enter the pharmacy field
and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) exam.
Course content includes medical terminology specific to pharmacy,
reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic
and brand names. Participants will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow
rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions,
inventory control, and billing and reimbursement.

This course is a two week
course. Medical Terminology is a vocabulary for
accurately describing the human body and associated components,
conditions, processes and process in a science-based manner. This
systematic approach to word building and term comprehension is based on
the concept of: (1) Word roots, (2) prefixes, and (3) suffixes.

This course
is two weeks long and
teaches students
to easily remember the names, pronunciations and locations of all the
principal parts of every major body system, including associated
anatomical terms and locations. By understanding the names and
functions of the body and its parts, students will gain a tremendous
advantage when attending further educational trainings; such as CNA
classes, Medical Coding classes, CPR, etc.

The American Heart Association’s
Heartsaver® CPR in Schools Course is designed to teach non-medical
persons the lifesaving skills of CPR, how to relieve choking, and how to
use an AED (automated external defibrillator).
This course is for family
members, friends, daycare providers, work supervisors and members of the
general community who want to learn CPR . This program is specifically
designed for those who prefer to learn in a group environment with
feedback from an instructor.

CPR
Course for Healthcare Providers
The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is
designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the
ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR,
use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or
non-licensed healthcare professionals.
This course is for healthcare
providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical
technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational
therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or
nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants,
police officers, and other allied health personnel.

CCDI- Chronic
Confusion and Dementing Illness Course
The purpose of
this training is to give an understanding of Alzheimer’s and other
dementing illnesses. The course reveals common behavioral problems and
how to cope, offers communication techniques, and techniques/activities
for assisting those with the disease. It provides professionals with the
skills they need to effectively identify and meet the needs of these
residents and their families. This course is for those caregiver
professionals looking to improve the health and well-being of residents
who have Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Bloodborne
Pathogens Course
Bloodborne pathogens training teach what
pathogens are, how they affect the body, and to learn how you can
protect yourself against these organisms. This course is for an
employee, student, or other individual working with blood or other
potentially infectious materials. This course meets the OSHA
requirements for BBP training.

HIPAA and Confidentiality Course
This course will
simplify the administrative components of the most recent details of
the (HIPAA legislation) Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act
passed by congress and the importance of respecting a patient's
confidentiality at all times. Healthcare agencies and providers must
provide confidentiality and privacy of the healthcare information that
they collect, maintain, use, and/or transmit.

Safety Course
This course
in safety covers prevention of injury, danger, or loss in a variety
of areas . Guidance is given on how to help should an emergency
occur. Proper use of body movement in daily activities, the
prevention and correction of problems associated with posture, and
the enhancement of coordination and endurance. We also explore major
causes of accidents in the workplace/home. Whether it is the
workplace or the home, being safety conscience is the key to
avoiding a potentially dangerous situation.

Workplace Violence
and Harassment Prevention Course
This course
covers information regarding OSHA regulations, understanding, and
response protocol for both issues of workplace violence and harassment.
Students will learn to recognize the early warning signs of escalating
behavior in order to assess your environment for potential dangers and
learn to promote more courteous interactions. Student’s awareness and
competence is increased in identifying, stopping and preventing
harassing and discriminatory behaviors before they escalate.

Employment Skills
Course
This course helps
individuals become more employable, productive, and self-sufficient
community members through a variety of topics that assess and identify
an individual's abilities and job readiness skills.
It covers a
multitude of topics including; where to look for jobs, resume & cover
letter formatting, guide to successful interviewing, attire for
interview & job, general hygiene & appearance, time management, and
teamwork. These are the skills that employers are looking for in the
individuals they hire. Anyone heading into the job market, either for
the first time or once again, will benefit from the skill set being
offered with this course.
